we all just want to be taken care of
We want to feel safe, cozy, cared for.
We want someone to notice when we’re sick or tired or overwhelmed, and to give us permission to just take a break.
We want to get cheered up when we feel down.
We want to know that if we fumble, someone is there to make sure we don’t fall. At least not too hard.
We want someone to get us food and medicine when we’re sick.
We want a hug.
We want someone to call if we’re in trouble.
We want to know we have somewhere to go for trusted advice.
We want a sounding board.
We want someone to cook us dinner, or make us a sandwich.
And sometimes, even though we are strong, and independent, and capable, we don’t want to be.
And in order for all this to be, we must be that for someone.
Or is it just me?
